Genomic
Medicine represents the most advanced method of facing
the medical and health challenges of the future, by
means of the inclusion of our knowledge of the human
genome and of its influence on the onset of diseases
which prevail amongst the general population.
Currently, the cartography
of the human genome is known with considerable accuracy,
likewise over 1,000 genes which are responsible
for common pathologies, such as cancer, diabetes,
hyperlipemias, cardiovascular accidents, and numerous
neurological and psychiatric diseases. Over 80%
of adult diseases are linked to polygenic forms
of genomic dysfunction.
